The durable power of attorney is a written contract providing a principal-agent relationship. By executing a durable power of attorney, the principal authorizes the agent to perform certain business or financial transactions for the principal with banks, landlords, stock brokers and others. Durable means the authority of the agent to act on behalf of the principal survives the principal’s disability.
